American-Puerto Rican actor and advocate for gay youth who played Rickie Vasquez on the acclaimed '90s teen drama My So-Called Life. He'd later star in Star Trek: Discovery, the seventh series in the franchise.

Though he was born in Brooklyn, the family eventually moved to Rialto, California, where he graduated from high school in 1991.
