Downton Abbey is coming to America with the new period drama, The Gilded Age. And just like in Downton Abbey where the new ways clashed against the old, new money will be fighting for the top spots in American society against old money and their exclusive ways.

The series begins in 1882 with a young Marian Brook moving from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after her father’s death. She’s moving in with her aunts, Agnes van Rhijn and Ada Brook. They are very old money.

But Marian isn’t facing the big city all on her own. She arrives with Peggy Scott, a writer looking for a fresh start. Unfortunately, Marian gets herself involved in a feud she is not sure how to manage. A social war is taking place between one of Marian’s aunts and their new money neighbors, George and Bertha Russell. Marian has found herself smack dab in the middle of it.

In an increasingly vicious world, Marian must decide whether she wants to stick to the old ways with her aunts or make her own path.

The Gilded Age stars Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Taissa Farmiga, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Donna Murphy, Katie Finneran, Audra McDonald, and Morgan Spector.

Unfortunately, The Gilded Age is not on Netflix and most likely will never be coming to the streamer. The series is airing on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

You can start watching The Gilded Age on HBO when it premieres on Monday, Jan 24, 2022. It airs at 9 p.m. E.T/10 p.m. CT and the episodes will stream simultaneously on HBO Max. So, if you have HBO or are an HBO Max subscriber, you can easily watch each episode when it comes out.
