His music spans emo, drill, indie rock, hip hop, R&B, and punk rock, earning him praise from critics and fans alike. He is regarded as a key character in the emo-rap.

The young rapper was born to Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy and Cleopatra Eretha Dreena Bernar, both from Jamaica but he was raised by his grandmother named Collette Jones.
Onfroy was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was young. Onfroy was not an athletic type and admitted to being insecure and melancholy during his high school years.
