Originally known as a YouTuber with over 7 million subscribers on his self-titled channel. He made his acting debut in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine and went on to star in the 2010 comedy Spud as well as in the 2013 sequel, Spud 2: The Madness Continues. Also a singer, he released the album Blue Neighbourhood and multiple EPs, including WILD.

Before Fame

He moved from South Africa to Australia when he was two and he began his YouTube channel at the age of 12. He made his acting debut at age 14.

Trivia

He released his original song "The Fault in Our Stars" in May 2013. His video "The Boyfriend Tag" with Tyler Oakley earned a Teen Choice Award for Most Popular Web Collaboration in 2014. In 2018, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for his song "Revelation" from Boy Erased. 

Family Life

He was born to Laurelle and Shaun Mellet and raised alongside two brothers, Steele and Tyde, a sister, Sage, and the family dog, Jagga. His father was raised Jewish and his mother converted to Judaism. He was in a relationship with model Jacob Bixenman from 2016 to 2020.
