American businessman who gained widespread recognition as the co-founder and CEO of OceanGate, a renowned company specializing in deep-sea exploration. On June 18, 2023, he and four companions lost their lives when OceanGate's submersible, Titan, suffered a catastrophic implosion while attempting to reach the North Atlantic wreck of the Titanic.

Before Fame

After completing his education at Phillips Exeter Academy in 1980, he went on to graduate from Princeton University in 1984 with a degree in aerospace engineering.

Trivia

He constructed an experimental aircraft, which he piloted throughout his lifetime. He scuba-dived as a hobby.
