Michael Bloomberg is an American businessman and politician with an estimated net worth of $36.5 billion. Born on February 14, 1942 in Boston, he is the son of Charlotte and William Henry Bloomberg, real estate agent. His childhood was spent in the suburbs of Boston, where he attended school throughout his entire life. He did not leave the area until he was in college. Deciding that his choice college was Johns Hopkins University, he moved to campus to pursue his education when he was 18. He became a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.

Michael Bloomberg was not satisfied with only having a degree from one school. He went on to attend grad school at Harvard’s School of Business with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He went on to begin a career on Wall Street, where he became a partner at Salomon Brothers by the time 1973 rolled around. From there, he was laid off almost a decade later when the bank was sold to another company. It turns out it might have been the catalyst that led to his lifestyle and his success. Michael Bloomberg took his $10 million severance package and he started his own company, Innovative Market Systems.

That led him to become even more successful in even more avenues of his life. He’s managed to acquire media publications and outlets, serve three terms as mayor of New York City and he even has some of the biggest clients in the world in his business. He spent nearly a year after he left office doing nothing but charity work and then decided he would become CEO of his company once again. His wealth was acquired primarily by his business and his investments and his business ventures. He has been on the Forbes list of billionaires for more than a decade, and he is one of the wealthiest men in the United States, as well as the world. He’s moved up significantly on the list in the past decade, too. In 2009, Michael Bloomberg’s net worth was only $16 billion. Today, it’s more than $36 billion. Even when he was in office and unable to focus primarily on his business ventures, he was able to amass a huge fortune with the company and his stakes in it.

It’s suspected that Bloomberg might return to politics in 2016 with a presidential run. He has yet to announce whether or not he has any intention of running for office, but he is also deciding that it might be the year to do so now that the election is coming nearer. It’s suspected that he will announce his intentions in March 2016 and that he might throw the game for many of the current nominees with their presidential election runs at the moment.

Michael Bloomberg is one of the wealthiest men in the world. He has billions of dollars in the bank, and he manages to continue to see his fortune grow.
