Marion Sylvester Barber III was born on 10 June 1983 in Plymouth, Minnesota, the United States of America to Marion Barber Jr, also an American footballer who played running back and Karen Barber.

Barber III was an American professional football player who played for the Chicago Bears of the NFL in 2011.

He also had two younger brothers; Dominique Barber and Thomas Barber.

He attended the University of Minnesota where he played football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He played running back because of his running speed.

Barber III got the nickname Marion the Barbarian due to his running back style during the 2007 season.

On 23 March 2012, Marion Barber III announced his retirement from the NFL.

Marion Barber died on 1 June 2022 at the age of 38. He was found dead in his apartment in Frisco, Texas.
