John Joseph Travolta is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Danny in the 1977 film, Grease. He also starred in Saturday Night Fever where he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. Travolta was born on February 18, 1954, to a Sicilian-American father and Irish American mother. His first significant movie role was as Billy Nolan, in the horror film Carrie.

Travolta’s career took a downturn in the 1980s with a series of flops, however, he bounced back in Look Who’s Talking, which grossed $297 million. He got his second Academy Award nomination for the hit Pulp Fiction and went on to star in Broken Arrow, and Face/Off. In 2016, he received his first Primetime Emmy Award, as a producer in the series American Crime Story, The People v. O. J. Simpson, and was nominated for his role in the same series.

Travolta decided to take a break from acting to care for his children after his wife, Kelly Preston died in 2020.
