Cody Carson was born on 9th January 1989 in Tampa, Florida, US. He is the son of James Charles Carson. Cody has a sister Cambia with whom he grew up. His father expired due to mouth cancer.

Similarly, he went to a local high school in Tampa, Florida. Carson majored in orchestral arts from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.

But, Cody Carson dropped out of college to focus on his band.

On 26th July 2008, Cody Carson started with band Set It Off. The other band members are Maxx Danziger and Zach DeWall. Past members of the band are James Arran, Dan Clermont, Blake Howell, Benji Howell, and Austin Kerr. On 31st October 2008, his band released their first EP Baby, You Don’t Tripajaharda. 

After that, they released Calm Before the Storm in 2009 and Duality: Stories Unplugged in 2015.
