Andrew John Leonard Fletcher was born on July 8, 1961, in Nottingham, United Kingdom to Joy Fletcher and John Fletcher. Fletcher was a musician, DJ and keyboard entertainer from England.

He was also part of forming the electronic band Depeche Mode together with Vince Clarke, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore where he played electronically and later synth bass. Vince Clarke left the group in 1981.

The band have had 54 songs appear on the UK singles chart and has sold 100 million records all over the world.

Fletcher was with the local Boys Brigade which was a Christian Youth institution where he became friends with Vince Clarke.

Fletcher and Vince Clarke started a band called No Romance In China, where Fletcher was the bass guitar player the band was briefly dissolved. Fletcher formed his record label called Toast Hawaii in 2002 where he signed a band named CLIENT.
